Lots and Lots of Fencing

Here's our house the first year we completed the fence in the front yard. Little did we know that we would go on to paint almost 1924 pickets-yes-that's a lot of pickets. We decided to enclose the west side yard the next year and a few years later the back yard. The east side has an old-fashioned ornamental wire fence with hedgeposts.
This was the inspiration- a picture of our house from the 1800's. We chose to put the fence out further in the yard than the original one was and to move the gate closer to the mailbox.

My husband putting up the fence in the front yard. We pre-painted the pickets for the front and gave each picket at least 3 coats. We wanted to add the kickboard to make it as close to the original fence as possible.

Only a few more sections left to paint and then we can start painting all over again! We've both done our share of painting-but it was all worth it.
