Update #5 on Bathroom Remodel

Yeah...it's coming along.  The flooring is almost down and the wainscotting is up! My scones are up(minus the globes and the shower stall come in today and will be installed(maybe a shower at home!)
It's looking just like we wanted-old-fashioned. We wanted it to look a room had been converted into a bathroom.  Just enough of the old wood flooring to do the project.  The wall vanity may be changed at a later date(I wish I would have bought the antique one I saw and loved several years ago).  Hopefully by the time I'm home tomorrow my dresser  and clawfoot tub will be installed!  It's so exciting!

Update Remodel #3 or Is it #4

Anyway, the wall and ceiling are up and painted(I'll be wallpapering and wainscotting will go up too) And we started putting the hardwood floor down-it was taken out of my mother/father in laws house before it was taken down. It matches the kitchen floor in color and almost in width.

Maybe this week we'll have a shower and a tub!

A Journey Home

My sister called yesterday to tell me that my Grams, "Ella Mae" (who this blog and my Sale Barn are named after) may not make it thru the weekend. I've gone to see her often and I can see her failing. Seeing this picture of her in good health is hard for me. I guess she's always been the grandparent I've been most close to(and is the only grandparent I have left). I have so many good memories of her thru the years and it's hard to see how she's been the last few months. I know it's hard to say goodbye, but my whole family has been preparing for this. I ask your prayers for her and her journey. I know she has a strong faith, but a few days ago she told my mother that she was scared. Please pray that she will have peace and comfort in this time before she goes home. Please pray also for my mother as I know this is an exceptionally difficult time for her.

I know all you fellow bloggers out there will send up some mighty prayers to our Lord and Savior. Thank you for your love and support at this time!

Antique Black Baby Fur Booties

Aren't these the sweetiest little booties...I think they are handmade. They are so small and so unique. I picked these up at an antique store last month and just now and getting them on display(up high of course-wouldn't want the dogs to get ahold of them!).

I'm starting to get excited -it's taking shape. As the walls go up though, the space is getting smaller!

It's at least another week away and then maybe I can get decorating!

Remodel Update # 2

Still without a shower or tub-but glad to have a toilet!!! The insulation is in and it feels so much better in there(felt like you were going to the bathroom outside with that cold air!) The ceiling is up and and I can't wait to show you what I plan to do to cover that vent hole(found it on pinterest!) The wall where my vanity(dresser) is going to be is started and you can see where my sconces are going to go!

The plummer will be back on Thursday and more walls will go up tomorrow! It's exciting to come home to progress! The carpenters are wonderful!

Ornate Dresser Piece

Electrical work was done today. Plummer comes tomorrow-hoping my hubby will show him my antique pull chain toilet and see what he thinks! Here's the piece that goes on top of the dresser to hold the mirror. Can't wait to see it all together! I love all the pretty details!

Bathroom Faucets

Went to Home Depot today to pick out faucets for the remodel. Boy it's expensive. I think we spent $600 just on two faucets. Oh well, at least we already had my vanity, tub, and his vanity. We've saved some money on those!

Here's the faucet for my vanity. I know the picture is rather small. The handle says hot/cold on it. It will be a brass finish. This is my faucet for the clawfoot tub. It will also be in brass. The handle will be great for washing the dogs.

More pictures tomorrow nite of what gets done tomorrow!

Bathroom Remodel Update

Here's the update on the bathroom project. Subflooring is down(at least we won't fall in the hole in the middle of the night!) and the walls are getting insulated. Fixtures are being put in place and the placement of switches and lights will need to be determined on Monday. The plummer comes Tuesday and we are making a trip to Home Depot to pick out faucets for the vanity and my cast iron sink(I can't wait to take a bath in it!) We had to go with a different pedestal sink that we had previously decided on. The other one was way to big. It's going to be a tight squeeze anyway!

Here's the dresser that my bowl will go on. It's got a beautiful mirror that goes on the top. I like the color and the imperfections.

Here's the bottom of the shower stall-it's got a marble look to it. Our antique washstand that will be in the bathroom has the same look to it.

It's all so exciting-things are beginning to take shape and I can't wait to be able to take a bath at home again!!

Window Weights

Another find under the bathroom floor -3 Window weights. They are pretty big though and very heavy! What have you found under your house or in your yard?

Found Treasures

Look what the carpenter found under the bathroom floor when they were tearing it up! I just love to find things that are old....wish I knew the story on why these were there! It will have to be a little warmer to clean these up!

The Bathroom Remodel

This is what you'll see(and you'll feel the cold!!!)when you open the door to our bathroom. Yes we've still got a toilet(Thank God..or we'd be using the outhouse or a chamber pot!). Not too pretty yet. Can't wait for that awful floor to go. Pretty dirty in there! There's a drop off there(we're enlarging the bathroom) so better turn on the light if you need to go in the middle of the nite! Can't wait to see it done...and get my bathtub back(it's not fun having to go to other people's house to shower!)

Out with the old

Wednesday's the day!!!! The construction workers are coming to start on our bathroom. I've decided to show you one of the horrible things we've been living with (me for 17 years) and that I can't wait to see gone!!

I hate this vanity. It's so old and nasty and impossible to keep clean. I want to rip it out myself!!!! Bye, Bye Old Vanity!!!!

Lady Print

I bought this several years ago from where I work. They used to use antiques-pictures, trunks, dressers, wardrobes to display with. I loved it! Then they decided to go all modern and simple. They say everything comes in a circle-so I'm waiting for the day when it will come back to fun displays! I don't know much about this print-Named "American Woman" and I've never seen another one-any ideas out there?

Dog Driving

I took this picture several months ago(when it was warm). I remembered it because of the post from yesterday. It was a truck sitting out back where I work and I thought it was so funny. Three dogs waiting in the truck for their parent to come back. One looks like he's driving(and very calm), one in the backseat(who looks scared) and the one is really barking up a storm! How cute is that!

Old House

I was driving around a small town in the area on beautiful Wednesday today and came across this wonderful old house. My two loves-animals and old houses. I fell in love with this one and wish I knew the history. The front side view. A window is busted out. So sad. Wonder who owns this property. This is the backside-wish you could see the fun green door. I wish I could see the inside. I'm sure it was grand. This is the kind of home that need TLC and love-hope someone does something before it's too late!

Vintage Cast Iron Fixtures

Well here's a couple of the items that will be going into our bathroom remodel. I've had these for years and I'm finally excited to get to use them. The outside of the tub needs painted and it needs new vintage faucets. And the pedestal sink needs to have some enameling done to it..

but they're going to look great in there~!

Vintage Fixtures

Over the years I've found a few things that I would like to incorporate into the bathroom if possible. I love these old faucets and the old mirrors. The faucets may work on the old sink we're putting in(I'll show it tomorrow) and the shaving mirrors would be a great addition on the wall. I still need to find some fixtures for my clawfoot tub though-maybe this weekend when I'm antiquing in St. Louis!

The old Bathroom

These are just a few pics of our bathroom that we are finally getting remodeled after 17 years. I won't show you the awful vanity and the horrible bathtub-which I wish I could rip out myself!!!

It's not going to be fun-we only have one bathroom. But it will be great after it's done. I finally get to use my clawfoot tub and an old pedestal sink. Plus an old dresser with a pitcher and bowl vanity!

I'll keep you posted!

Carr Cares

Here's my 12 year old vehicle-my Toyota 4 runner. We bought it new and for the past 12 years I've hauled so much stuff in it(and it wasn't people either-there was no place for them to sit!). I don't think I've done much to clean it up in the past two years and since we haven't found another vehicle to replace it-it had gotten extremely dirty(I should have shown you the before pics, but I would have been too ashamed!) It took Sam 10 hours-yes 10 hours to clean my vehicle and she looks brand new. I was so excited about how good it looked-I even hugged him. This is Sam Carr-and if you need a car cleaning-waxing, shampooing, vacuuming and want an exception job done-he's the one to take it too! I couldn't be more pleased!!!

The extra details he took with the inside is amazing-he gets in places I couldn't even begin to get into!

She's still got some wear on her-but I could drive her for another couple of years-these 4 Runners are the best vehicles-I haven't had any trouble with her and she's got 161,000 miles on her.

Check out that dash-what a pretty sight to look down at now!!!

Here's his information if you live in the area!

Thanks Sam!

Red Floral Tin

I don't know about you-but I love vintage tins. They're great to store small items in and they remind me of my grams(I used to love to rummage thru her tins full of not only buttons, but nick nacs of various kinds). The plus side is they're still reasonable in cost and the graphics are wonderful!

Abingdon Circa 1945

My friend Amanda gave me some really neat treasures a couple of month's ago and I'm just now really taking the time to go thru it. She has each item wrapped up like a little treasure. This double candlestick was in the box. I don't know much about it-but the shape is really good!

Celebrating New Years with Friends

For the past several years we've went out on New Year's Eve with one of my best friend's from high school-Kelsie and her husband Bryan. It's a good tradition and we love seeing them. We ate at 5:00 and left at 7:00 though-I've just been so tired lately and am ready to catch up on some rest this week-3 days off-YEAH!
