My Little Helpers

My Mom came over today to help me wallpaper the bathroom(thanks Mom!!!).  I'll be posting the finished pictures of the bathroom soon.  These little children couldn't stay in the other room-they had to be right underfoot. At least Maggie Mae stopped barking after she was allowed to come in and see what what we were doing!

I've been a little obsessed lately with facebook garage saling.  I've been really trying to clean out the barn.  Next the shed, hay barn, garage and then house.  I need to.....my life needs it.  But I think I've gone crazy posting morning and nite!! Ella Mae's Day

I'm so glad it's sunny today.  It will be a nice day to bury my Grams.  I can almost feel the heaven's shining down on the event. Wasn't my Gram's beautiful?  This is the picture I have at the Barn of her.  I had so many people who looked at this picture and even one man wanted to buy it! 

 I printed a copy of this picture of the sign for Ella Mae's Barn and tucked it into her casket.  The barn was a big deal to her.  She wanted something for her namesake and since I never wanted to have children-that wasn't going to happen.  But my Grams and I shared a love of junkin.  She took me garage saling before I could drive and she was my first person I looked to for fashion.  We both shared our love of dressing up for Halloween(she had some pretty good costumes thru the years!)  My Grams was always there for me-someone I could talk to and share secrets.  She will be missed by many at the barn-but mostly me!

Every time Grams came to the barn-she wore this shirt I had made for her.  The back of the shirt said "I'm Ella Mae" and believe you me-she made sure everyone knew it too!!! She was so proud. I had plenty of people thru the years at the barn ask me if I was Ella Mae-to which I had to explain it all and show them the picture if she wasn't there!  

 I love you Grams-Start the party up there-I can't wait for you to show me around when I get there!!!

Doll House Furniture

 I've been trying to be good but couldn't resist these adorable little doll furniture pieces-at a steal!!!

Grams Things

 My grams didn't have much left to give.  A few items to my mom and she passed a few onto me. I love this old embossed box, perfect to keep all my treasures from grams.

If you lift the little girl's skirt-there are safety and straight pins stored.  The little purse is a compact.  I remember when she used to wear those watches.  The little sailor boy reminds me of my gramps.  And last of all....the little pink/white hair pins to hold rollers.  My grams used to be a hairdresser, so there were many days when she'd put those rollers that hurt your head in your hair.  I remember sleeping on those horrible things.  But one of the things I love...is all the time she took to do it!!!!   I miss you already Grams, but as I went to sleep last night, I knew you were happy in Heaven.  I knew you could see and were meeting old and new people and that you'd made the journey....and I know you'll be there when I arrive someday.

White Baby Bed

Another sale-when I delivered it -she told me she's going to turn it into a desk for her little girl.  Interesting idea-would like to see how that turns out!  Probably something she found on Pinterest!!!!

Little Hand Mirrors

Here's a little collection I have of itsy, tinnie hand mirrors.  There is a wall between the shower and my vanity-just perfect to display them. 

Ella Mae's In Heaven

I got a phone call at 545 this morning from my mother.  At first I thought...maybe she called me accidentally, but then it hit me, she wouldn't call me at that time of the morning on accident.  I called her back immediately.  I knew.  Grams had gone home. My mom was at the nursing home waiting for the ambulance to come. Grams had left us at 4am.  I wasn't shocked because we knew it would happen, but sad for a passing of the times. My last grandparent.  The one I had been closest to.  I will miss her-but I have great memories of our times together.  And I visited often in the nursing home. I feel at peace to.  No regrets.  I told her many times that I loved her.  I said goodbye this morning without too many people around.  

Please continue to keep my mother in your prayers.  As Tete says "it's hard to loose our mothers".  Use this upcoming Valentines Day to tell those you love...friends and family..that you love them!

Little Winnebago Cushions

Well I'm finally ready to get started on the remodeling of my little 13 foot winnebago.  The cushions were in a horrible state, but luckily I have a good friend who is amazing at sewing. 

 I had found these vintage curtains and had plans to use them, but so sad.there just wasn't enough.

 So she volunteered her own material(good friend!) and had all six of the cushions done in just two hours(did I mention she is an amazing seamstress!)

 We spent 5 hours(yes 5 hours) talking and catching up yesterday.  It was so good to see her and visit with her.  She plans to do the curtains as soon as I get the measurements.  Still lots to do-flooring and ceiling to just mention to major items.  But having the cushions done really gets me motivated!

Garden Chairs

Here's another hot item-have sold the top two chairs and working on making more!  I guess some people are ready for spring-not me-I still have a lot left to do!

Decorative Towels

Do you hang decorative towels on your towel bars?(I know these need ironed-but I haven't had time since we are still putting our bathroom back together).  My husband doesn't understand this-but I like my little collection of vintage hand towels better than an new one just hanging any old way up there!

My Tub

Another sneak peak... My tub is ready and waiting for me!  I'm a bath kinda girl-hate showers.  So this will feel really nice.  The new faucet will help when we give the dogs baths.  Still need to change out the pedestal sink faucets, but I'm ready to get things back in place and do the wallpapering!

Antique Dresser as Bathroom Vanity

Well, we're almost there.  Got to use the shower tonite and the clawfoot tub goes in tomorrow.  The plummer will be back to finish the dresser by installing the plumbing and faucets-I'll post more pictures when its' done!!!
