Porch Pictures

My sister and law wanted to recreate the family pictures we took on the porch when Eric and I got married 17 years ago. There's a lot more family now. Below is the whole Hinton/Coon clan. And here's just the Coon clan!

Trying to dress cool for a hot day!

The three matriarch's of the family. Lots of visiting going on! My friend Tete mentioned adding chairs to the end of the picnic table-I really liked that idea! Everyone liked this long table the best!

The menu-pulled pork/Italian beef, potato salad, Cole slaw, bean salad, and 3 different kinds of chips. Raspberry tea/lemonade. 4 different kinds of cookies and pies-lemon, key-lime and chocolate. The umbrella's really came in handy with all the sun. I thought this was cute-the little one's sitting around a little table-having their lunch. All and All -I think everyone had a good time.

History of Our Farm

In getting ready for a family reunion at our house, my husband had a great idea. We have a table that we received from his Auntie Margaret that belonged to a prior owner of our home(150 years old) and had placed it on our back porch so that it could be refinished before the party. The man doing the refinishing couldn't get to it -so there it sat out of place. He(my husband) suggested making it a place where people could look at pictures of the progress and upkeep of the house and also our family history. The back porch is really large-so I thought that was a great idea!

90% off Flowers

Here's the flowers I picked up at Rural King a week ago for 90% off. I went back half an hour later to buy more-and they had thrown them all out-boy was I disappointed!

Sweet Blue/Green Vintage Make-up Case

I haven't been able to go anywhere lately looking for neat stuff(too busy at home!)(not that I need anything!). But I did go Friday and find a couple of things, including this neat case. It's unusual because the way it opens. The latch is on the side. And the inside has this really neat Paris fabric!

Another Cabinet of Stuff

Here's another cabinet in the barn full of all kinds of stuff! Had the barn open yesterday and even though it was hot-we had quite a few people stop. I'll be open today and then probably not for at least a week and half- Stop in if you're in the area!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my Dad's Birthday. It's getting harder and harder to figure out what to get him. I know he likes gift certificates, but after a while that just gets routine and boring. My mom had said something last year about wanting a fire pit for their patio(hoping that they might use it more!). So here's the gift-hope you like it!

It can be used as a grill or a fire pit! I hope you had a wonderful Birthday-I love you!!!!!

Old Chevy

Driving to lunch today I saw this neat old chevy. I didn't have time to get out(or want to with these temperatures!), so I took a couple of pics from inside my car. I told someone at work that I've been looking for a new vehicle for several years, but can't find anything that I like. She said "It's because you want something old". She's right. I just want something fun like this!

Is that too much to ask for-a beat up, junky ole truck?

Vintage Reflection Plate

I absolutely love this plate. Can you see when the lady looks in the pond she see a man or a cherub. I'm not sure which side is up-do you know?

Blue Child's Rocker

I can't help but think this is so sweet even though it's not in perfect shape. I love the colors(perfect for the 4th of July). I can just see a sweet doll, rabbit, or bear sitting in it!

Yellow Eat Tray

Can you see it? It says EAT! I found this neat tray at a garage sale on Friday. I've never seen one like it before and thought it was pretty neat!

Vintage Fans

Just a bunch of fans for sale at Ella Maes Barn. I started picking these up a few years ago when they were really hot or should I say cool. One idea I've seen is to clip old photos to the front with clothes pins-it looks really neat!

Adding Mulch Around the House

I've never like mulch. Too landscaped and new looking. I prefer it to look like it did 100 years ago, but we have company coming at the end of the month (about 50 people) and to make it look nicer(more what other people think looks nice), we've added mulch to give our plants a finished look. We still have a little painting to do-but what's been done so far is looking great. I still need to rearrange the porch a little.

Vanhoute spirea in the front which we've trimmed back, but could use it some more.

The front left side next to the porch where the annabelle hydrangeas grow. A corner around the house where the water hose is. I've always had problems getting anything to grow here!

Meeting New Friends

I've had some great days at the barn lately and one of the things I like most is meeting and visiting with people-especially ones who like to hunt treasures and find interesting things to do with them. I'll share one story with you. I met a lady on Thursday who was such fun-we had a great time talking about ideas(she's from the area and our husbands know each other). She bought a few things to do some craft projects with and to my surprise came back on Friday to buy more and bring me these wonderful magazines to look at. I've peeked at a few-they're filled with great, unique ideas(you need to check them out if you haven't!). She added this wonderful little collage for me on the top with the nicest little note. How sweet is that! In the future I would like to have some talented artists come set up on the lawn. Last year I had a friend selling plants-but I didn't open until June this year and missed the whole opportunity. Anyway, you never know what to expect at the barn-and I love that! Here are the bigger things she nabbed.

Another Day at the Barn
