Pink Items for Sale

Of course I love pink and I think other people do too. This little doll bed would be great on a porch for plants, in a bedroom for blankets, in a bathroom for towels, or of course in a child's room for dolls(or an adults for their doll collection)!

Lion Head Park Bench

Here's a beautiful lion head park bench for sale($78) that my dad re-made. He got the ends and re-painted them and then made boards to re-do it. It turned out so nice!

Last Sale Day Photos

Well, here's a few pictures from yesterday's sale. I'll be posting more this week. It's a lot to see-both in the pictures and if you come. A bit hot and windy yesterday-but no rain. A good turn-out of friends and customers-many I hadn't seen before. Looking forward to the next sale date of Sunday, June 13th when the Oakland Landmark's Dr. Rutherford House sponsors a "Farewell to Olde Barns Tour" and Ella Maes will be on it. Last year we had about 80 car loads of people go to the barn tour-good thing we have plenty of parking! Don't want to miss this one!

Sale Day!

Well, it's here-Sale Day. I hope I'm ready this time. The weather is suppose to be beautiful and with the help of my friend Teresa, I have a new layout for the outside items. My husband told me last Sunday that a friend of his, wife saw something outside the barn she was interested in. This white headboard. It goes to a daybed, but could be used for so many things- in the garden, above a bed, above a mantle -possiblities are endless. I hope she stops by today to pick this up and visit!

Thinkin of What?

Guess what I bought junkin yesterday? I never usually buy items out of season. I'm just not in the mood. Yes, I know, it's the best time to buy, but usually you can't find it. I saw these cute little plastic snowmen (they had pink hats and candy canes). I told the owner that I would think about them and possibly he could bring them closer to the holidays because he sets up a booth outside where I work. When I showed them to him- he told me they were 75% off. I couldn't resist- I even bought the santas. What fun it will be to decorate for the holidays in my booth! He also had these 4 santa mugs on sale-so I added them too.

Painting it White

Much better white! Finished two of the four trellises(lots of work painting those) and a half porch post. I may use the post to hold a sign-it has a hold in the top and bottom. These trellises may not be for sale(yet) at the barn sale, but there are some for sale! Stop by and see us this Sunday, May 23rd 1-5pm-it's going to be a beautiful day!

Everything's coming up Roses

I love how a simple fix like a new chair cover can transform a chair. I've had this chair since last summer and have been trying to catch up on a lot of little projects around here(which I never will because I'm always bringing home more stuff). I think this one turned out pretty rosy!

To Sell or To Keep-That's the Question

Bought this little garden cart at a friend's sale-couldn't decide what color to paint it. Then the pink paint called out to me-now I'm in love with it-Never fear- I still have a black one to sell at the next barn sale and you can paint it any color you want- you may see this one or you may not!

Lots of Shutters -Large and Small

I've got several sizes of shutters at Ella Mae's. Here's a peek at the larger white one's. I can think of several ideas for these-from indoor use(we put some up next to my friend Jami's dining room windows-they looked really neat inside)- to outside on a porch for extra layering(that's how I have mine) or my friend Teresa wants to try them on her porch for privacy. They would look great above a window for a shelf, to hold Christmas cards at the holidays, put sideways for a memo center in an office, or behind a bed for a headboard. The larger ones sell for $15 each and the smaller ones for $5. It's fun to be creative-what ideas do you have?

Another Items Sold

Got a call from a customer who was here at the last barn wanting this 3 piece wicker set. I had several people looking at it. I'm still surprised it didn't sell that day. I had a lot of thinkers that day, but yesterday 3 calls came in from people inquiring about items or the next sale day which is this coming Sunday, May 23rd 1-5. I hope for better weather conditions than this last weekend camping and to meet a lot of new people and see some old friends.

Sold- Just as soon as I posted it!

This cute little bench sold the day I posted it- to my best friend Teresa to use in her yard. I just got back from a miserable, rainy weekend camping and she had the best surprise for me- she started me another blog- a personal blog- so you'll be only seeing items I'm working on, items for sale or photos of the barn sales. You may still see some personal musings, but for the most part this blog was originally created to let people know what was going on at Ella Maes and to let customers see what is for sale when the barn is closed. So feel free to email or call me if something interests you or if you have questions about when I'll be open! Hope to see you at the next barn sale- Sunday, May 23rd from 1-5.

A Camping I will Go!

Have I ever mentioned how obsessive I am (thank's for putting up with me, Teresa) about pink food-yes, pink food, but only when I'm camping. I have to exhaust all ideas about finding pink food. I literally go everywhere looking for it. You'll find out Sunday why-hint, I own a pink camper- and everything in it's pink-yes- I mean everything and no, my husband doesn't go- he visits. I go with my parents and my sister's family. This weekend should be fun because there will be people from their church camping also and on Sunday there is a fun event planned! Other than a few last minute items to pack-I'm ready to go. I will have Teresa withdraws-not good cellular service at the park. See you on Sunday!

Vintage Candy Jars

Inspiration Mine

I'm looking for a place to put my pink candy when I go camping this weekend. I want the container or item to be clear so you can see the candy inside. is. My best friend, Teresa, is helping me to find a fun vintage label to put on the front. What do you think? Any ideas?

More Glass Houses

Well my Dad sold his first glass house yesterday- I knew he would-there's really neat and very reasonable in price. He's made 3 different one's so I'd like to have him try his luck on something bigger- how about this one Dad? For my yard? Can you deliver it next week? or maybe this one would be better?
I know you can do this one-just add the little pretties for me!

This is my favorite- I like the litte base(I think we could find something like that) and add some scrolls!

This litte one would be fun out of picture frames-I've got tons of those!

Well Dad- which one will it be next?

Antique Garden Bench

I bought this antique garden bench from a friend at work along with some other old items. I'm going to pick the rest of it up today-good thing I have a truck- I'm hauling everyday. The bench had a missing piece so you couldn't sit in it. The lady I bought it from said her mom just put it her garden and let the roses grow up through it. That's what I plan to do(after I clean up the garden), but my Dad fixed it up so that it can be set in if needed.

A little paint

I like what a little paint will do to an item. I bought this little stand at a sale and painted it this fun green color. More painted items to come at the next barn sale on Sunday, May 23rd 1-5pm.

Bench-Garden or House

My Dad is really amazing- he's my #1 fix it up man. I can bring him something to fix or an idea and he really tries to make it happen. That impresses me. Although I know he's tired of me bringing him stuff, I know he likes the challenge and the final product. Here's another example- he had this little headboard and footboard I had painted for him last year and it hadn't sold(we had no side rails) and I found this picture to make it a bench. Perfect with or without a cushion- great for the garden or in a children's room or any room. It will be for sale at the next Barn Gathering on Sunday, May 23rd 1-5pm.

Thursday's Finds

Stopped at the local thrift store at lunch and found these little pink salt/pepper shakers and this pretty rose bowl(I need to go thru and purge all some of my dishes) and this silver tray and the little ceramic wheelbarrow-it's a cigarette holder-no I don't smoke- but they say cigarette holders will someday become more collectible as less people smoke-and you guessed it I collect little wheelbarrows. As luck would have it-I work at a mall and across the center aisle is an empty store where there has been 3 garage sales this year. This is my pickins from it. A lot of it made me feel like fall-the quilt, the pumkin head, the orange paint and apples(hopefully the racoons won't try and eat these in the barn). If you blow the picture up at the front is two little eggs on wheels- I love these. I also picked some items up for the kids to play with camping- the pink boa and beads. I just love garage sales!

More Glass Houses

My dad has made 3 so far. They are all different. He came over Sunday with the church. I thought that was a great idea. I have one at Copper Eagle and the other two will be at the next barn sale on Sunday, May 23rd.

vintage postcard...enjoy!

What's Blooming!

I love spring, especially about the middle of May. The gardens all start blooming and there aren't that many weeds to deal with and it's not so hot that you can't enjoy them. I have several gardens-so it's a lot to keep up on-rose garden, fairy garden, butterfly garden, grandmother's garden, white garden, shade garden, herb garden, and my husband does the vegetable garden and prairie plant garden.
