What Is It-Do You Know

I've been told this is a cream seperator. It has a little glass window to show the milk seperating from the cream. I love the color-what will I do with it-a plant maybe? It fun to have interesting items for conversation pieces on our farm. We have an entire backporch wall of old farm tools(another post maybe).

White Potential

Would you believe this is plastic? I bought this at a garage sale for only $1.00. It's a laundry hamper and I loved the rose details. I knew if I painted it white-it would look great. It's so lightweight because it's plastic. It could be used in a bathroom, bedroom, or backporch. It just looks like a cabinet so the possibilities are endless!

You've got to see the potential in an item

Red Wheelbarrow

Friday I went to some garage sales on my lunch hour. Usually you'll only find a few still open, especially when it's this hot. I was driving around when I spotted an unadvertised sale. I had been here before. This guys an old auction, wheeler-dealer man. He always has the most interesting stuff and it's almost always old. My favorite! So I bought a truck load. I couldn't help myself. The metal box was from him and I'll be posting more. I spied this red wheelbarrow right away. The base is old, but someone has rebuilt the box. It's still pretty neat. It would be wonderful to use to decorate for the holidays-like the upcoming 4th or Christmas. It may end up at the next barn sale in two weeks-but I'll have to think on that one!

Ornate Metal Box

I got this metal box from my junker guy Kenny. I'm not sure if I should keep it as is or paint it white. When I'm not sure-I always leave it as it is. I've got one of these with two doors for sale at Ella Maes. They are great for storage and have wonderful character. I have one with a lady on the front-Queen's Pantry-Keeps contents sweet and fresh. I use it to store magazines in my den! I'd like to put this one in the kitchen-but I'm not sure where?

An Antique Rose Pitcher Find!

At the mall where I work several times a year they have a flea market inside. I have a favorite vendor that I always go to first. He's an older gentleman(75) named Kenny that has a variety of items, but mostly items for men(tools and such). A few years ago when I met him I said-why don't you have more items for us women? We stuck up a rep or and he has since brought more girly items. He especially looks for pink enamelware(I have a large collection and it's difficult to find) for me and he gives me great prices. I didn't get a lot this time, but I'll be posting the items in the next couple of days. When I snatched up this rose pitcher he commented on the chips on the top(doesn't he know that gives it character?). Anyway, I picked some of my favorite bouncing bet(soap wart)(it smells so-o-o good) to put inside. Another day of happy hunting!

Gingerbread Birdhouse

I bought this little birdhouse made of old gingerbread several years ago. The birds love it and so do I. Our house is in the background-it was built around 1855.

Happy Father's Day

How can one really say thanks for being such a good father to you when it's all you know. I don't really stop and think how lucky I am that I have a good father-you just seem to express to your mother much easier. You have lots of conversations with your mother-but with father's it just goes unsaid-thanks for all those little things you do that you wouldn't have too, but you do because you're my dad!

Gingerbread Table?

Yesterday I bought this little table at the antique store I sell at. I'd passed it up a couple of times and thought-that's not going to be there long and you'll be mad you didn't buy it-so home it comes. I'm starting to look for more items for a special project I've been wanting to do for some time-build a gypsy caravan. I've got tin ceiling tiles for the outside and inside a door with colored glass panels, an antique flower carved bed, chairs with the north wind face, and lots more. I've got books on the designs and a folder full of ideas-now I just need someone to build it for me-that's the hard part!

I'll paint this little table with some fun gold scrolls and it will fit in nicely!

Circus Barrel of Fun!!!!!

I had seen a painted barrel at an antique store years ago and didn't buy it and now that I'm obsessed with the circus theme-I thought I've got a few of those nail keg barrel and I can paint one myself. Here's how it turned out. I didn't even have to use any color twice. I will probably use this for a wastepaper basket on sale days!

Birdhouse Condo

A few years ago I wanted a really unique large birdhouse to put in the yard so I hired a man to make me one-little did I know that he would make it the size of a doghouse and too heavy to put on a pole. So it's been sitting on the edge of my herb garden while the bird keep waiting for my husband and I to figure out how to make it work! Hopefully this summer we can do the minor repairs it needs and get it up where it belongs.

Rachel and me on Barn Sale Day:

This is my good and crazy friend Rachel from Idaho. She's into Halloween almost as much as me. She's here for a very short visit-but we're having fun.

Time for Rest and Redirection

With another barn sale over it's time for a little rest and then on to planning for the next. We had to close early due to all the storms around us, but luckily I had several friends on hand that pitched in to help tear everything down(it sure comes down a lot quicker than it went up). I'm sorry if I missed anyone who stopped by after we closed-I really hated to close! I have a few days of vacation this week and plan to dig into the garage and barn to find more things to add to the next barn sale on Sunday, July 11th. I plan to try and do some re-arranging inside the barn this time(with the help of my parents) and change a few areas around. Come back next time and bring a friend to visit!

Circus Mania

Well I'm getting obsessed again-now it's about circus items. It all started with the pink and white tent(kinda like the big top). Now I want to make the barn sale like a carnival -minus the rides and games, but with fun sale stuff. So I'm looking for inspiration everywhere. I've had this umbrella for several years and never used it-it has no pole to make it longer-so I had this half porch post painted white and thought -I could paint it the color of the umbrella. I think it turned out pretty cool. I still need a base to stand them both in, but I'm almost there.

White Wednesday

Several bloggers are now doing different colors for different days-hence, white Wednesday. I've had this lamp for years and wanted to paint it white, so a few days ago when I had the brush in hand -it got a new look.
Much better in white-now, what kind of shade?
