True Friendship

I was beginning to send my best friend Tete a personal email and then decided that I wanted to declare my friendship to her on my blog. Who doesn't wish for a best friend? I know I have all my life and I lost her once and never want to again. Tete-she's the kind of person who will help you in any way(which is something with all my crazy ideas!), listen when I'm sad, down, or angry-just listen, I can tell my secret thoughts with no fear of anyone else finding out, she gives advice even when it's something you don't want to hear, to share my dreams and try to make them happen, discussing life and all it's meaning, when I call 20+ times a day and she never get tired of it , inspiring me to try new things, lead ing with strength and courage, have I said enough-I could go on and on and on. I wish you all could have a friend like my Tete.

I know you'll never know her like I do-but her blog is so inspiring-check it out!

Cast Iron Sewing Machine Legs

I love to use these old sewing machine bases to decorate around my yard. Some I put shutters or cast iron tops on and others I just use a simple decorations. The top two are my favorite-Household and New Home -and they're white!

Spider Web Chair

I'm not sure where I picked this chair up, but it's one of my favorite things to put out at Halloween. It was already kinda beat-up and tattered and the back of it really makes me think of a spider-web. I put this fake cat on my porch(when I brought it home a couple of years ago-my dogs wouldn't stop barking at it!)

Vintage Children's Refrigerator

About a 1 1/2 years ago at the antique mall that I'm in (before I was a dealer there) I saw this little vintage children's fridge. Actually it's not that small and it's really heavy. After going in there several times and not buying it-even when it was marked down, I finally decided -I can't get that fridge out of my mind. So I went in to get it and it was gone-we've all done that, haven't we! Well, fortunately this is a happy ending because the owner called the dealer and they still had it-I was thrilled. I've always wanted to use it on the table at a backyard party and put some fun little drinks in it, but we haven't had any parties yet-(guess I've been too busy-will have to put it on the list for next year!). Come to think of it-I bought a small soda bottle about 6 months ago that would look great in this fridge-now where did I put it?

Another Spooky Monday

Here's part of my porch-it really needs cleaned, but this time of the year I just leave it -cobwebs and all. I always change out my porch furniture the first of September-all the antique wicker goes away and all the fall chairs come out. These are two of my old rockers and I love the pillows on the seats. A friend that sold antiques made these out of old sweaters and stuffed them with rags. They are one -of a kind and I just love to put them out. In the far upper corner you will see a barn swallow nest. I can never bother them. In the cage hanging up is a giant rat. I've got more halloween decorations to come!!!

My Surprise Winning Arrived

It's here-my gift from Marydon from Blushing Rose at http://blushingrosetoo.blogspot.com/ . I could hardly contain myself to take these pictures-but I wanted you to see the beautiful packaging too (love the pink tissue paper and the wonderful tag) and she included these three little beautiful victorian notecards. How thoughtful you are Marydon! And here they are. They are so unusual as they are more square and the pictures don't give the colors justice. I can't wait to use them-they will go wonderfully on my kitchen table! She also included this little bear that you get wet and put into bags or containers to put back the softness in food items-how cool is that!
Thank you so much Marydon-I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness!

White Chippy Racks

Last May while I was going to the town garage sales-I spied this really cool rack. A few weeks later, I thought, I wish I would have asked if I could purchase them. I had a neighbor ask them and the owner told her that she would never sell them, so I thought-guess I won't be able to buy them. I thought I'd ask again when they had the town sales the end of August. Again a no. But to my surprise, a few days later I got a call they would sell them to me-YEH! And they had an extra pole. I've got so many ideas for these-backdrops, etc. I'll be using them this coming spring at the barn.

Spooky Monday-Old Black Frame

I bought this old frame at the antique mall for $3.00 and wanted to think of something to do with it for halloween. I added some spiderweb and spider trim and a glittery skeleton from Walmart and a tombstone and cobwebs. It still feels like it's missing something. Any ideas?

Blue and Yellow Monday

It's been kinda hard to find blue and yellow together for a post but when I found this vintage jewerly box a few weeks ago -I knew-here's a blue and yellow monday. I bought them both the same day at the salvation army and they both have daisies on them. This slip is kinda neat and would be fun to wear as a skirt(with another slip under it of course!).

Second Hand Collection-First Time

Anyone that knows me knows that I have more collections that anyone-it's probably well over 100. I guess I just like to find and keep fun and weird stuff. I've had these in the shed for several years and just pick them up from time to time. In fact, the day I took the picture I found another one-a blue one. The colors make me think of fall and taking hot soup or drinks out to the farmers. They're also great as centerpieces or vases and they're realitivity cheap to find! Drawer front coat hanger rack

Before

I found this drawer front at the antique store where I have a booth for only $6. I kept passing it up and then I thought -I could hang it on wall and put some old hooks on it. It already has that fun chippy paint(with a little pink showing thru underneath!) and some great details-key spot and fancy wooden drawer pulls. I still need to add another hook(I broke off one and need my husband to pull it out) and it will be ready to go! Simple and easy!

Toy Winnebago

Inside I was going to show this last week for white Wednesday until I got the real deal(last week's post of my little winnebago). About a year ago I was at an antique store and a little boy was buying one of these toy winnebagos ( I really don't know what it is with toys lately-I never had any of these as a child-but I love to decorate with them). I wished at the time that I had found it first. His mother was buying it for him and I'm sure it didn't cost more than $10 or $20. So I thought -here's another thing to be on the hunt for. So for the past year I've found a few at between $80 and $120. Well, I don't need it that bad. Then a couple of weeks ago at the antique mall I'm in -a new booth had this one for -guess-$12. Yep-it was mine in a heartbeat. I thought it would look great on a high shelf or in my pink camper. Well, that was until I found my new real winnebago. It will go with me and be something my sister's three kids can play with and if they don't I'll have fun decorating with it.

Spooky Monday -Come and Sit a Spell Chair

I picked this chair up from the trash and knew instantly what I wanted to do with it. It didn't have a seat in it so my Dad cut some plywood for it. Originally, he cut the plywood and covered it with some vinyl-and wanted to paint it white -not knowing what I had planned. He's my main fix it up man-we just don't always communicate to good. So he took the cushion and vinyl off and left it black. I love how it turned out! Thanks Dad!

Blue Tiles and a Yellow Vase

I bought these tiles a couple of weeks ago at an antique store for only$10 for eight. I looked a couple of years ago for tiles for our fireplace and could only find a couple and they were over $40 each. I'm not sure where these will go, but I love the detail. I picked up this bubbly yellow vase at a garage sale for $.50.

I've had this lamp for a few years-just waiting for a paint job. Just a simple transformation-but white paint can make all the difference. Now I need on of Debbie's shades!
