Opening The Barn

Finally got the barn opened a little after 12:00 yesterday. Didn't seem to quite have any energy yesterday. After talking with my BF Tete and having two lunches, I told myself-I just have to do it. I'm so glad I did!! Had some good sales and a mother/daughter came by planning a September wedding looking for ideas!!! Party planning -my favorite thing to do. I had a great time discussing all their wonderful ideas-a Barn Wedding with Lace and Pearls-sounds right up my alley!!

Anyway, can't believe it's almost the 4th and I've only been open a few times. My new plan is to try and be open on my day's off and have a big Sale Event sometime in August when I have vacation.

I'm working on posting things around the barn that are for sale. I'm also working on some different outlets to sell some items. The barn is so full and it takes so much work to drag everything out. So stop on buy if you're in the area-and I'll see what deals I can give you!

This is a really neat enamelware table and two chairs. Both sides have this little extra section that pull out. Perfect for a smaller kitchen. I don't think anyone has seen it since its kinda been covered up with another table.
Close up It's really an unusual table. I don't think I've seen one like it before.

Let me know if you're interested!

Cute Little Stove

While going thru some boxes in my dining room I came upon this cute very little stove I had bought some time ago. I think I'm starting to go crazy over kitchen items. What's happened to me-I'm even baking! I'm joining White Wednesday athttp://fadedcharmcottage.blogspot.com/ and Rednesday at

Old Jeep Truck

I've been looking for a new/old vehicle for the past few years. I can't find anything new to replace the 4-Runner that I love so much. I keep seeing older vehicles that I would love to have but really would love in a new vehicle. Why don't they come out with more remade styles of cars/trucks? This is a really neat vehicle though!

Galbreath Picture

I decided to post a picture of the Galbreaths-Eric's great, great, great Grandfather was a Galbreath-right Ann? I know is getting ready for the reunion next month. I hope I can get off since I didn't get to go next year. It's always a lot of fun visiting with everyone and learning more about the family history!

Bringing Miss Kitty Home

When the vet called a couple of days ago to let me know that Miss Kitty's ashes were ready I didn't want to hear it. Sometimes I get up excited to see her in the morning, only to realize that she's gone. No more helping her or loving on her. My husband went to get her. I wanted to leave her there for a few more days so I could just be alone with my silent denial. This is the bag that he brought home. I like that the bag says Kitty Coon. Never thought about her having our last name. Of course you've heard about the rainbow bridge.

This was inside. A nice little poem.... I don't want to think about it. I don't like the box. It doesn't suit Miss Kitty at all. I do like the little gold metal. I wonder if I can put it on a more fitting box.

I don't know where to put her, but as Eric says, she's not in there anyway. She's with God. I know he only gives us people and pets for a short time(and I had Miss Kitty more than most), but God I wanted more time with her.

Corner of the Kitchen

My husband's been working on several different projects around our house getting ready for company coming the end of July. Projects we've been putting off for years. He just got finished with sanding and restaining our kitchen floor. The company he contacted couldn't get to it until August, so he decided to tackle it himself. It's a little darker than we wanted but not as dark as it was before. We're still in the process of cleaning and putting everything back. I threw everything in the cabinet, so it will need to be taken out and re-arranged. On to the next project!!!

Old Fire Extinguisher

Have you ever seen one of these? I don't think they're many of these around. It's an old fire extinguisher. We have a couple of these in our old out buildings.

Orange Tiger Lilies

This is the east side of our house. The tiger lilies were already there. My husband put up an arbor where there was already a walkthru. You can see our old smokehouse(which I have decorated up inside) in the background. What a Game!!!

This was such an exciting game. My nephew was in their first tournament game and they had 5 overtimes!!! Those boys on the team played so well and the coaches were so encouraging and upbeat(unlike the other teams coach who was making his own kid cry-they're 9 year olds-they want to have fun and this is wear they're molded!) My nephew is a great ball player-hitter and fielder-I couldn't be more proud of him.

They lost by one run in the end-and we had a player on third. I think I was making a spectacle of myself in the bleachers. It was all so nerve-racking and exciting! I think I went to the right game! They have to have a double elimination-so there's still another game to play!

Happy Father's Day

Here's my Dad and I camping back in the mid 1970's. Little did he know back then what he was creating in a camper! After another rainy weekend and him helping once again with my awning and all my other stuff that needed to be attended to(without griping!)-I say What a DAD! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

I'm not sure what was going on at the campground this weekend, but if my nieces and nephew would have seen this-they would have wanted to ride too!

Life Goes On

As I sat at my computer last nite(without Miss Kitty on my lap) I saw these three little faces staring back at me. Life does go on even if we want it to stop. I felt that in the hour before Miss Kitty was gone. God just stop the clock. I don't want to take her. Rewind the years, something. One thing I've learned from having pets is that there are always more out there that need us. Especially the ones that have been abandoned just like these little ones. It will never replace the emptiness in my heart from the loss of Miss Kitty, but it does help fill the loneliness of the house. I don't know how people can only have one pet or two. It so much easier with three. I learned that a long time ago from a good friend. If you loose one, there's still two left behind to help each other mourn. If you've never felt the love of a pet(or furry child), you really don't know what you're missing. The pain is great when they are gone-but it's all worth it just to have their love and companionship!

My Farewell from Miss Kitty

Well I came home last nite(I was gone overnite to my folks home where I stay sometimes when I work the nite shift and then early the next morning) to find a white envelope. No return address and it looked like a wedding invitation. I opened it not expecting much since we don't get many invitations and thought it was from someone we might not know very well. As I opened the envelope and saw this card-I knew it wasn't a wedding invitation. In fact I knew what it was, a sympathy card. I didn't want to see it because I don't want to think about Miss Kitty not being here. The house seems strange. No baby gate to walk over and no patting my leg to lift her up on my lap. A simple card-very appropriate, but sad.
We have a good vet. The card was heartfelt. It meant a lot to me.

But the little card inside was almost too much. My pent up tears wanting to all come rushing out like waves. I've kept Miss Kitty's fallen hair over the years(call me morbid-but it was so pretty and I've always had a plan for it). I think it was the little paw print that did it. The little tuft of hair(in the upper left hand corner is barely visible. Thinking of her little lifeless body putting a print on this little yellow card is hard to take. I know I'll treasure the gesture forever-I just don't want to believe she's gone yet.

Mavis Talc Tin

I've had this tin for several years(yes, another collection!). I love the little angel on the front(do you see it!)-there are angels all around us!! God put this in my view for me today-I wonder how many angels he'll put in my path in the next few days-I know one for sure-my best friend, Tete! A Tribute to Kitty

I'll miss you Miss Kitty with all my heart. You have been exactly what I wanted in a first pet and there will never be another who can replace you or be just like you. I hope to see you waiting for me at Heaven's gate and I hope that you can run and play and torment all those other cats and dogs up there like you did here on earth. As I sit here with you on my lap typing in this last hour with you I cannot imagine the days ahead without you being on my lap. How anyone could have given you up is beyond me-but that day was one of my happiest when you came to live with us. Although you haven't been very loving until the last 6 months, I will treasure those the most. The times you finally let me pet and hold you without biting or scratching me. The times you would hit my leg with your paw so I would lift you up to sit with me. The many times you climbed over and over the baby gate with so much determination and strength. I know if I was a cat-I'd be so much like you-and that's why I've loved you so much. I've understood you and you're little Miss Priss attitude. May God watch over you in heaven and although I know you weren't mine forever-I so hate to let you go. Although I've never been a crier, I'm choking back the tears I feel even before your gone because I know I won't have the strength to write this after your gone. And if a few tears fall on your beautiful coat, you'll take them with you when you go. All my love goes with you!
